Princeton, Penn Earn Women's Basketball Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Ivy League women’s basketball weekly awards were announced after another winning week for #IvyHoops.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Princeton sophomore guard/forward Bella Alarie (Bethesda, Md.) was named MVP of the Gator Holiday Classic after leading the Tigers to the championship. Alarie averaged 18.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.0 block while shooting 57.7 percent from the field. She finished with 21 points and nine rebounds against 2017 WNIT squad Saint Joseph’s, and then posted her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the championship game against 2017 NCAA Tournament team Chattanooga.
 
Alarie – whose grandfather Norman Augustine graduated magna cum laude from Princeton in 1957 and received his masters’ degree in 1959, then was a professor at Princeton’s School of Engineering and Applied Science from 1997-99 – earns her second Player of the Week honor of the season and fifth of her career.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Penn freshman forward Eleah Parker (Charlotte, N.C.) recorded her first career double double in her team’s win over Rhode Island, with 12 points and 11 rebounds, one of three Quakers to post a double-double in the victory. Parker also added two blocks and two steals in the game, while shooting 6-of-13 (46.2 percent) from the field.
 
Parker earns her second-straight Rookie of the Week honor. She is the first Quaker to be named Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks since her teammate Michelle Nwokedi in 2014-15.
