Ivy League Champion Yale Shares Final #IvyFootball Weekly Awards with Cornell, Dartmouth

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale clinched its first outright Ivy League football title since 1980 and two games were decided in the final minute to punctuate another thrilling #IvyFootball season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
It is appropriate that Dartmouth sophomore quarterback Jared Gerbino is from Rush, N.Y., as he ran for 202 yards and four touchdowns against Princeton, including the gamewinner with one second remaining. He ran for more than half of his total in the Big Green’s 34-point fourth quarter, the second-highest scoring quarter in Dartmouth history. Gerbino is the first Big Green to rush for 200 yards in six years, and first with four TD runs in 26 years.

Gerbino’s maternal grandfather, Lee Minotti, was a two-time national champion gymnast at Syracuse in 1950 and 1951. Gerbino, who had preferred walk-on offers from Miami, Michigan State, Buffalo and Old Dominion, earns his first career Ivy League weekly award.

Gerbino’s Statistics for the Week
32 carries, 202 yds., 6.3 avg., 53 long, 4 TDs vs. Princeton

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Yale senior linebacker Foyesade Oluokun (St. Louis) made sure the Bulldogs clinched the Ivy League title outright. Oluokun finished with nine tackles, three tackles for loss, a 14-yard sack and a forced fumble in the Bulldogs’ win over Harvard.

Oluokun earns his second Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season (Oct. 23), the first Bulldog to receive at least two in a single year since Bobby Abare in 2008.

Oluokun’s Statistics for the Week
7 tckls., 2 asst., 9 total, 3.0 TFL, 18 yds., 1.0 sack, 14 yds., 1 FF vs. Harvard

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cornell sophomore kicker Nickolas Null (Bradenton, Fla.) did it all for the Big Red in its hard-fought loss at Penn, with three points on a field goal and an extra point, touchbacks on all five of his kickoffs and a punting average of 48.0 on four punts, including a 60-yarder that bounced out at the Penn three-yard line.

Null takes home his fourth Special Teams Player of the Week honor of the season, just the second Big Red to accomplish the feat, joining Chad Levitt, a four-time Offensive Player of the Week in 1996.

Null’s Statistics for the Week
3 pts.; 1-1 FG, 32 yds.; 1-1 PAT; 5 KO, 300 yds., 60.0 avg., 5 TBs; 4 punts, 192 yds., 48.0 avg., 60 long, 3 FC, 1 in20 at Penn

Dudek ran for 64 hard-fought yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ outright Ivy League title clinching win over Harvard.
